Should I try to pull out a broken key?
Avoid improvised extraction attempts, especially glue. Tell us whether part of the key remains visible, without trying to move it.
Does a stiff lock always need replacing?
No. The cause could be alignment, wear or another fault. Inspection is needed before deciding.
